Alexander MacQueen presented his striking spring 2010 assortment in Paris. The unusual highlights were almost too varied to list. The performance began with a video of a topless Raquel Zimmermann writhing within the sand along with snakes. A number of models wore prosthetics surrounding their eyes to make them look like creatures from another planet (they took 3 hours to use). However as far as fine points go, it was the footwear that stole the show. At ten inches, these beautiful hooflike monsters have been the very best heels to march the length of a Paris runway this season. Some of these shoes seem like elaborate funky disco lobster claws, while the middle one looks like it’s just about to come alive and swallow that model’s leg. Alexander Mc Queen evidently didn’t acquire any of this season’s instructions regarding the dangers of tall heels. At his different-worldly fashion exhibition in Paris yesterday, the designer sent ten-inch-tall shoes along the runway.
